Well, not lemons exactly – just allergies, pink eye, horrible headaches and a serious case of the blahs. Needless to say, I’ve not really felt like turning on my computer over the last couple of weeks. I usually zone out in the evenings in front of the TV or go to bed early with Testament of Youth, which is completely wonderful yet a very long and slow read, so I don’t have much to blog about anyway. It might be another week or so before I have a genuine book post for you.
I do hope to get around to all of your blogs this weekend and see what you’ve been up to.
And I actually do have lemons! I was just given another bag full by a co-worker – any good lemon-based recipes to recommend?
Oh dear how horrid. Get well soon. Testament of youth is wonderful how lovely to have such a book to keep you company at the moment. I have been trying to decide if I want to watch the film of it. But am worried they have Hollywood-ised it and made it all romancy.

Thank you! I’ve heard the film is watered-down which is a shame as the book is so powerful.

You really got hit with a triple whammy! Our allergy season is kicking in again, with pollen turning everything yellow. I hope you’re feeling better. I have such a hard time reading when I’m sick, and the blahs just make it worse. The lemons do look lovely though!

Allergies are just year-round atrocious here. I never had them until I moved away from Arizona then moved back. They can be so debilitating. I am feeling better this weekend though and am still reading.

Poor thing…well, a lemon drizzle cake is always a fabulous pick-me-up or dipping shortbread biscuits into homemade lemon curd.
I’ve barely looked at the computer for the past week down to cat-sitting for my neighbours while they’re in London. One of the little rascals is a kitten and he’s sooooo adorable! As you can imagine, I’m over there every spare minute.
Feel better soon!

Oh I love kittens – lucky you! I wouldn’t be on my computer either. I think I am going to attempt a lemon drizzle cake this week as I am feeling better and the lust for life has returned.

Not really a recipe but a slice of lemon and a spoonful of honey in a mug of hot water always make me feel better 🙂

I was wondering how you were! I hope you feel better soon. I agree with Cosy Books on the lemon drizzle cake and lemon curd, I made both last week – delicious. Otherwise, have a look at the BBC recipe site http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes. Testament of Youth isn’t exactly uplifting reading when you’re not feeling great – so sad. And how fantastic to have a glut of lemons, I can’t even get tomatoes to grow outside!

It’s not very uplifting, but it is stirring and powerful and it makes me think – sometimes that makes me feel better! I wish I could send a box of lemons over to you, actually I could probably send 5. Lemon drizzle cake sounds so lovely – I will try it soon.
