I’ve been enjoying looking at and smelling the blossoms that have popped up around my house lately. The white blossoms are on an oleander tree in my front garden. It is a highly poisonous plant, oleander, but the blossoms are lush and beautiful – almost over the top. The pink and purple blossoms are petunias that my dad gave me for my birthday. I placed the pot on my back patio and I am grateful for them. My tiny yard is otherwise drab and full of weeds so these pretty flowers have cheered me up this week. I hope the heat (we’ve already had triple digits this week!) doesn’t wilt them. I’d really like them to stick around for a while.
Have any blossoms cheered you up lately?
And now for the winner of my 2nd birthday giveaway – I used random.org to generate a number and it choose #5 Sam from Tiny Library!
Congratulations Sam! Email me at gudrunstightsatgmaildotcom with your address and I will get the books off to you as soon as I can. Thanks to everyone who entered!
Enjoy your weekend!
I’m so jealous of your gorgeous flowers, but not of the triple digit temperatures. I would just have to be scraped up off the ground! My cherry and apple blossom is still in tight bud. Today it’s grey, wet and generally Novemberish, yesterday was lovely though. If you keep nipping the dead flowers off your petunias that should keep them going longer. If you allow them to set seed then the plant thinks – ‘job done’ and stops flowering – in our climate anyway.

Thanks for the tip about nipping the dead flowers – as soon as I read your comment I went out and did it. Since I posted our weather has been really nice and we might even get rain tonight!

Congratulations Sam! And Anbolyn what lovely blossoms and photos. Thank you for sharing them. My garden here in the UK is a little behind but I have spied some new buds on my apples trees so I’m looking forward to blossom soon.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an apple tree in bloom – I bet it’s a lovely sight.

Our apple trees aren’t very old yet so haven’t reached their full potential yet but they are still rather pretty.

Yes! I walked in the garden and the apple blossom was out and very pink and pretty. I do like that white oleander.

There’s something so wonderful about a tree in blossom. The orange trees blossomed in March – they’re my favorite!

Congrats, Sam! Just yesterday, actually, we went out for the day and found the most beautiful tree, absolutely littered with blossoms. I must have taken a good dozen or so photos. The oleander is lovely, quite creepy considering you said it’s poisonous. Love the petunias!

I love taking photos of blossoms! And yes, creepy about the oleander – even creepier is that Phoenix is covered with oleander trees and bushes that could potentially kill a child if he/she ate the blossoms.
