Congratulations, Manda! I hope you enjoy The Blank Wall as much as I did. Please contact me at gudrunstights(at)gmail.com with your shipping address.
I recently got a raise at work after not having had one for a few years. I’m not sure why, but this propelled me to go on a little book buying binge, like I needed to use up all my extra funds to buy, buy, buy more gorgeous books! I spent the most money on a small collection of the hardback Penguin Classics designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith. I’ve coveted these forever. I plan to buy a few more over the next couple of months to grow my collection because they are just so pretty.
The other books I bought are all paperbacks:
The Priory by Dorothy Whipple – a must read after I so enjoyed Greenbanks last month.
Lady Audley’s Secret by Mary Elizabeth Braddon – my first novel from the Penguin English Library series.
The Custom of the Country by Edith Wharton – a new-to-me Wharton to celebrate the 150th anniversary of her birth.
Manhattan, When I Was Young by Mary Cantwell – a book recommended on this Mad Men reading list.
Peyton Place by Grace Metalious – an impulse purchase I hope was worth it.
I am so in love with all of these beauties. Have you fallen in love with any books lately?
I loved Lady Audley’s Secret, great page-turner.

I think the Penguin hardbacks are a great investment – they really aren’t that expensive for how lovely and decorative they are. And I think I will save Lady Audley’s Secret for my vacation next month – it sounds like a great holiday read!

Love the Penguin hardbacks. I have 2 at the moment (Dracula & Sense and Sensibility) but can see myself buying more. They are practically investments! 😛

Deeply envious of the Austen hardbacks. Love Black Beauty too, but cry at the part where Ginger dies. What is the book with the scissors embossed in the cover we can just see?

The scissors book is Little Women! I hope to get a complete Austen set – I’m only missing Emma which, for some reason, is not easily available.
