We’ve had beautiful weather this week in central Arizona. I’ve been walking every evening and I’ve soaked in all the cool, blossom scented air and delighted in the feel of it on my skin. It might be the last nice weather of the season as temperatures are predicted to soar to the 90’s by the end of the week and it will be 100 F before we have time to get used to the idea of living in an oven again.
I’ve been very erratic in my reading lately. I haven’t been able to settle on any one story and stick with it for more than a few hours. There are so many exciting books in my stack and I want to read them all. Some of the books that have caught my eye are Sharon Bolton’s The Dark and Twisted Tide, The Lost Garden by Helen Humphreys, Under Magnolia by Frances Mayes and The Pleasures of Men by Kate Williams. They all sound so good.
The above photo is of a beautiful doily that was made by a library patron. She brought it to our Maker Morning yesterday. I started this new program to promote and support the needle arts and to provide a place where people can share ideas and show off their projects. We only had two people come yesterday, but I plan to do some marketing over the next month to bring in more people. I enjoyed myself and loved getting to know the two women who came and hearing their stories of how they started crocheting.

A Certain Fondness 
We are having a little cool spell – though not the rain we need. But I think this might be the last before the heat really sets in. I need to get back to crochet, I have a baby blanket almost done! I hope your week goes well!

I’d love to make a baby blanket! I have a friend who is having a baby in November – maybe I can actually knit something for her by then.

That’s very pretty, and a great photo, too! Spring seemed to begin here but now we’re back to rain. It’s a little warmer though, so it’s not so bad. I am loving my current read, In Her Shadow by Louise Douglas. I’m struggling with wanting to read everything too, so I’m trying to spend less time online so I can read.

I need to spend less time on social media! That would really free up a lot of time.
Rain would be nice here, but we probably won’t get any now until July or August. I hope it warms up for you soon!

That does sound like a great stack of books. I’m looking forward to reading A Dark and Twisted Tide as I’ve enjoyed all the other Lacey Flint books. The doily looks beautiful!

I haven’t read any of the other Lacey Flint books, but A Dark and Twisted Tide is very good and makes me want to go back and read the rest of the series!

I’m having a hard time settling down to just one book! I have a bunch of new nonfiction out from my university library, and I’m so psyched to put all that new info in my brain that I keep skipping from one to the other. :p
Louisiana’s been having very confusing weather. Today was gorgeous; last night was the thunderiest thunderstorm I maybe have ever heard; and tomorrow’s meant to be either sunny or rainy. Reports differ. It’s hard to figure out what clothes to wear every morning.

That weather is very confusing! At least here things are very predictable, for the most part – it’s either beautiful or hot and horrible.

I love the idea of your Maker Morning, I’m sure it’ll become a popular meeting place within your community, I wish there was something like that here. I hope your weather does not reach those crazily high predictions!

I really do hope the Maker Morning attracts more creative people. It is such a great place to share ideas. I am frightened about this summer – I don’t think I can take 120 degree days!
