Another season, another Classics Club Spin. I’ve really enjoyed the two books that were chosen for me in the spring and summer (Revolutionary Road and Mrs. Dalloway) so I am going to take a chance again. I’ve revamped my list, but I am still too much of a coward to include any of the big daddy books like Bleak House. So, below is my list of twenty titles – I’m secretly crossing my fingers for no. 9, no. 15 or no. 16.

It looks like I am back to blogging, which I didn’t expect, but I am glad I am here.

Oh – a new youth librarian was hired and starts on Monday. I can already feel the stress rolling off of me.

    We share only Breakfast at Tiffany’s this time around, but several of the same authors. I hope Monday is a lucky day for youā€¦. great news that the new youth librarian will be starting!

    Bleak House is one scary book, I was relieved that it wasn’t chosen by random.org to be on my spin list.
    I haven’t read many of the books on your list but I have read Tender is the Night and it was just beautiful and heart-breaking, one of my favourite books ever. I hope you get it and love it as much as I did šŸ™‚

    I’m glad to hear they’ve found a new youth librarian. Hopefully things will be less stressful for you now. Of the books on your list, I love 8 and 20 and enjoyed 1 and 18 too. I hope the spin gives you a book you’re happy with!

      I’ve never read The Secret Garden, but Anne of Green Gables would be a re-read for me. I read it when I was a teenager and can’t really remember it very well. I would be very happy to read either of them. Good luck on Monday!

    Hurray for your replacement! and it’s very good to see you posting again. I love The Secret Garden and A Girl of the Limberlost (though I don’t get on with her other books). Have you read LM Montgomery before, or would this be your first?

      I have read Anne of Green Gables – when I was 15 or so. I think I read the whole series, but I don’t remember a ton about them. I’d love to read it as an adult.

    I’ve only read Catcher in the Rye and The Secret Garden, but I love both of them. The latter holds significance because it was a favourite film of my childhood, I’m not sure I would have enjoyed it as much if I hadn’t seen the film first.

      I seem to have missed out on a lot of the timeless children’s books so I am looking forward to reading them as an adult. The Secret Garden would be a lovely book to read over the holidays so I would be quite happy to have it spun for me.

    We share some of the same authors on our Spin lists, but no two books alike. I have Cather’s Shadows on the Rock (though I do need to read One of Ours before I complete my Classics Club list). I’ve loved some of the books on your list — The Heart is a Lonely Hunter was wonderful; also The Good Earth, Anne of Green Gables, and Ethan Frome. I loved Garp when I was young but it’s been years, I don’t know if I’d feel the same as an adult. Sadly, I did not feel the love for Girl of the Limberlost, and I hated Tender is the Night. I really hope you get something you enjoy!

      I have to admit I fear some of the books on my list like Garp and Limberlost. I can’t remember why I chose them, but I will bravely read them if they are drawn on Monday! I was frightened to read Mrs. Dalloway and I loved it so now I feel that I can face anything šŸ™‚
