It’s time to spin again. The Classics Club announced the next spin today and I am eager to participate. I drew a great book with the last spin (Revolutionary Road, which I loved but never blogged about) so I am looking forward to seeing what I will be reading this time around. My list is very much the same as the last one with just one or three substitutions.

    I won’t be spinning, but I’m looking forward to see which number comes up. You’ve got a great list again – I’ll be holding out for Nos. 8, 13, or 17. Is there one you’re hoping to get?

    I have nothing on my own list I fear, but there arre still some I’d like to come up more than others. You have some fabulous books on your list, and it I was picking you would have book 5, 6, 13 or 20.

      I am secretly hoping that no. 6 is drawn because I am reading The Moonstone at the moment, love it, and would enjoy reading more Collins.

    Good luck! I hope you get another book you enjoy. There are some great books on your list – I particularly loved South Riding, The Woman in White and I Capture the Castle. I’ve decided not to join in this time but look forward to seeing what everyone will be reading.

      I probably wouldn’t have joined in either, but then I remembered that I have two weeks of vacation in September and can read a bit more than I normally would 🙂

    I’m not sure if I’ll be spinning this time, since I’m already planning on reading The Age of Innocence in September. So many excellent books on your list – 2, 6, 9, 12, 13, 16, 18, 19, 20 – you can’t lose!!

      I don’t think I can! I chose books that I know I will enjoy. The Age of Innocence is so wonderful that I don’t blame you for not spinning.

      I’ll be posting about Rebecca tomorrow. It didn’t go down very well with my book club, but I think it is an amazing book on its own. I think any number I get would be fantastic, but one of the Victorians is what I am secretly wanting.

    I think whichever one of these comes up you’re on a winner – especially 4,6, 8 & 20. I’d really like to read 5 – should have put it on my list too.
    On my list I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Out of Africa by Karen Blixen – but any of them would be OK, even Gone with the Wind which is far too long really.

      I should add Out of Africa to my Classics Club list! I’ve owned it for far two long without reading it. Gone With the Wind is really long, but it is a page turner.

      I’ve never read Nancy Mitford, but I have read Cather and agree that I can’t go wrong there. She is brilliant.

Sappho, spelled (in the dialect spoken by the poet) Psappho, (born c. 610, Lesbos, Greece — died c. 570 BCE). A lyric poet greatly admired in all ages for the beauty of her writing style.

Her language contains elements from Aeolic vernacular and poetic tradition, with traces of epic vocabulary familiar to readers of Homer. She has the ability to judge critically her own ecstasies and grief, and her emotions lose nothing of their force by being recollected in tranquillity.
